What Does Production to Specification Mean?
Production to specification means the manufacturer doesn't build off the shelf but exactly to your requirements. You define dimensions, materials, functions, packaging and brand identity, and the factory implements them — based on a precise spec sheet that rules out language barriers as a source of error.
Contract manufacturing differs from simply buying finished goods: you sell a product under your own brand that exists nowhere else. Two models are available.

Tooling and Mold Making

Cost of Production to Specification
A realistic calculation involves more than the unit price:
- Unit Price
- Depends on material, complexity, workmanship and quantity; higher quantities lower the unit price.
- MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity)
- From a few hundred units for simple products, considerably higher for complex manufacturing with tooling. We negotiate the MOQ in your interest.
- Tooling and Mold Costs
- One-time cost for injection molding, casting or stamped parts, depending on product complexity.
- Sample and Prototype Costs
- Prototypes and pre-production samples are charged separately and approved before the series.
- Design and Branding
- Product and packaging design, logo, labels, and print templates for your own brand.
- Quality Control and Certification
- Inspections and laboratory tests (e.g. CE, RoHS, REACH), depending on the product category.
There are no flat rates — every calculation depends on the product and quantity. The usual terms: 30% down payment when the order is placed, 70% after a passed final inspection. Eva Solutions handles the payment processing and secures you by contract.

What does production to specification mean?
The manufacturer doesn't build from stock but exactly to your requirements from a spec sheet: dimensions, materials, functions, packaging, and brand. This produces a product under your own brand instead of an interchangeable standard item.
What is the difference between OEM and ODM?
With OEM, you supply the complete specification and the manufacturer produces exactly to it — maximum control and differentiation. With ODM, you adapt an existing design from the manufacturer under your brand — faster to market, but less unique.
How can I have private label produced in China?
You define the product and brand, we create the spec sheet, find and verify the manufacturer, have samples produced, and oversee series production. Packaging, labels, and logo are produced under your brand, so the goods leave the factory sale-ready.
How long does production to specification take?
Guide values: sample production 2–4 weeks, series production 10–40 days. Tooling for injection molding or molds can require additional time. We prepare a realistic schedule before the production start.
How high are the minimum order quantities (MOQ)?
The MOQ depends on the product category — small quantities are possible for simple products, while complex manufacturing with tooling involves higher quantities. We negotiate the MOQ in your interest and, if needed, look for manufacturers with lower minimums.
How do I protect my brand and design in China?
Before production begins: trademark registration in China (first-to-file principle), an NNN agreement with the manufacturer, design protection for product shapes and packaging, and IP clauses in the production contract. Our lawyers in China implement this for you.
Who owns the tool for injection-molded products?
The tool is assigned to your product and secured by contract, so it belongs to you. This prevents your mold from being used uncontrolled for other clients.
What does production to specification cost?
The unit price is determined by material, complexity, and quantity. On top come tooling costs, samples, design, and quality control. We prepare a transparent calculation that breaks down every item — there are no flat rates.
Which certificates do I need for my own brand in the EU?
Depending on the category: electronics require CE and RoHS, cosmetics REACH and CPNP, toys the EN 71 standard. As the brand owner, you bear product liability — we coordinate the necessary laboratory tests in China before shipment.
