Autumn 2026 is the busiest trade fair season of the year in China. The most important general and industry fairs run between September and November – the best opportunity to meet manufacturers in person, compare samples and prepare new product lines. Below are the dates that matter most for importers from Germany and Europe.

The three major general fairs

140th Canton Fair – Guangzhou, 15 October to 4 November

China's leading general trade fair. Its three phases cover a very broad range of goods: from electronics and machinery to household products, textiles and clothing.

26th China International Industry Fair (CIIF) – Shanghai, 12 to 16 October

Industrial equipment and technology: mechanical engineering, industrial automation, robotics and energy-saving technologies.

9th China International Import Expo (CIIE) – Shanghai, 5 to 10 November

A major international fair focused on consumer goods, food, equipment, medical technology and services.

Industry fairs at a glance

  • Construction and special machinery: bauma CHINA, 23 to 27 November, Shanghai – one of Asia's largest fairs for construction and mining equipment.
  • Electronics and components: Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition), 13 to 16 October, Hong Kong, and the electronics fair in Shenzhen, 27 to 29 October.
  • Textiles and fashion: several fairs in Shanghai in August and September, including the international fairs for home textiles and decorative fabrics and for fabrics and accessories.
  • Household goods and furniture: the international furniture fair in Shanghai, 5 to 8 September, and the China international building materials exhibition, also 5 to 8 September in Shanghai.
  • Energy and boiler technology: World Boiler Expo 2026, 16 to 18 September, Guangzhou – a trade event for boiler equipment and clean thermal energy.

What to keep in mind when planning

  • The Canton Fair is the key event for sourcing almost any product group. It runs in three phases, each covering different categories – check in advance which phase your products belong to.
  • In the first half of September, several large fairs run in Shanghai at the same time (furniture, building materials, woodworking). That makes it easy to combine several appointments in one trip.
  • For supplier sourcing and setting up logistics, the Canton Fair, CIIF and CIIE are the most productive: they bring together a very large number of manufacturers and international buyers.
